AUSTRALIA’S juvenile justice system, nationally, is unravelling. In the past few months incarcerated juveniles have rioted in Queensland, Western Australia and Victoria, with serious incidents in the Northern Territory.
So bad is the situation in Victoria the government recently placed a number of violent juveniles in an adult facility after they destroyed their accommodation.
Those same detainees reacted a few days ago by turning on their supervisors, assaulting one so badly he will be off work for three months. One of the youths was 190cm (6ft 3in) and 165kg.
